The Governments of Canada and Prince Edward Island recently announced funding to help Tronosjet Maintenance Inc. expand into overseas markets. Tronosjet CEO Mark Coffin talked about some of the recent successes the company has experienced, and MLA of Tyne Valley-Linkletter Paula Biggar explained why Tronosjet and other aerospace companies are important to Prince Edward Island's economy.
The Tronos group owns or manages in over 20 BAe146 aircraft and converts the airliners into fire suppression vehicles. In 2009, the company successfully developed the first-ever jet-powered 3,000 gallon air tanker. This prototype was found to be the most advanced land-based fire fighting air tanker in the world.
